El mexicano Rodrigo Prieto es nominado al Oscar por mejor fotografía

La mañana del 23 de enero, la Academia de Artes y Ciencias Cinematográficas de Hollywood reveló los esperados nominados para la edición 2024 de los Premios de la Academia, conocidos como los Oscars.

El evento fue transmitido en vivo a través del canal de YouTube de la Academia y en otros canales de televisión de paga como TNT, siendo Zazie Beetz y Jack Quaid los encargados de anunciar a los destacados del año en las 24 categorías.

Este año, la película «Oppenheimer» del reconocido cineasta Christopher Nolan lidera las nominaciones con un total de 13, seguida de cerca por «Barbie» de la directora Greta Gerwig con 8 menciones. «Poor Things» se posiciona como la segunda película más nominada con 11 menciones, consolidando así al evento denominado como «Barbenheimer» como el fenómeno cinematográfico del año.

Entre las menciones especiales y récords alcanzados, es importante destacar la presencia de talento mexicano en la lista de nominados al Oscar.

El cinefotógrafo mexicano Rodrigo Prieto, quien ha destacado durante varios años por su labor en diversas películas de carácter nacional e internacional, recibió este martes una nominación al Oscar a mejor fotografía por su labor en la cinta Killers of the Flower Moon (Los asesinos de la Luna), de Martin Scorsese.

Rodrigo Prieto compite por la estatuilla con Hoyte van Hoytema (‘Oppenheimer’), Matthew Libatique (‘Maestro’), Robbie Ryan (‘Poor Things’) y Edward Lachman (‘El Conde’).

Esta es la cuarta candidatura al Oscar que acumula en su trayectoria el mexicano, quien anteriormente había sido nominado por ‘Brokeback Mountain’, ‘Silence’ y ‘The Irishman’, estas dos últimas también dirigidas por Scorsese.

Prieto además fue parte de la producción de ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ del reputado director estadunidense, y su carrera también la conforman filmes como ‘Babel’ y ‘Biutiful’, de Alejandro González Iñárritu, y ‘Los abrazos rotos’, de Pedro Almodóvar.

En lo que va de la temporada de premios 2024, Prieto logró ser nominado dos veces en la categoría de mejor fotografía de los Critics’ Choice Awards, pues también fue el cinefotógrafo del fenómeno del verano ‘Barbie’, sin embargo, Van Hoytema fue quien salió vencedor en dicha gala.
